Maybe You Don't Remember Me, but I Was in Your Dreams Last Night

So last night I was doing the thing that I do best, Sleeping, and I must have slipped into a crazy sequence of jumbles, because the dream I had as I remember goes as follows (and I think you will get a kick out of it):

It all started back at my mother's house in Central New York. It was a calm and breezy day of summer, but the corner of my yard where my cat was buried was covered in snow, and snow was falling from a dark hole in the sky. It was like one of those black holes that you see in space movies, only the snow was dropping out really slowly, and nothing was getting sucked into oblivion. I went back to see the unusual occurrence, but in my dream I wasn't startled, it was like it happened all the time, and I was making sure it was going off without a hitch. I stared at it for a couple seconds, nodded my head and walked down the back hill of our property to the edge where there is now a house. However, in my dream there was no house. There was in it's place a massive park, like what I envision to be central park, and by looking at pictures of central park on the internet, basically what central park looks like. There was a path going through it made of stepping stones and little marbles, one that would take about a million childrens art projects in order to complete. In order to get to the path however I had to jump over a small stream about the width of a pillow, but the length of a small country (couldn't see where it ended, and I am assuming it didn't end anywhere that would make it easier to cross). So I hopped over it, and started to walk along the path. There was a noise behind me of clomping hooves, which I immediately assumed was the "New Jersey Devil" (thanks to Nick's new book I have been looking out for him!) So I started to walk faster and didn't look behind me. Of course like any real nightmare, everything in my dream started to lose life. The wind died, the birds stopped chirping, and the trees seemed to grow closer together and darken. I slowly get lost, but the footsteps fade, and I am left to realize it was a plot to get me lost, not someone trying to attack me. So I sit down on one of the many benches along the path and just look around. Things are starting to brighten, and I can see color (the only dream so far I remember vividly having colors) Everything around me starts to morph into a Brian Froud painting (like the one above) Trees seem to have faces, birds are somehow more animated and I feel like Dorothy in Oz. Then Nick shows up. Kid you not, I looked at him and knew he was Nick, but he looked like a Brian Froud painted image (see picture of fairy I posted above, he looked like the little brown guy to the right and slightly behind the main fairy, not the hedgehog looking one though). I mean he looked really creepy to real life me, but dream me was all aflutter because he found me and I knew he was going to take me home. So we got into this donkey drawn acorn (seriously, I know its corny) and we started to ride home. Which oddly enough was down the street where his aunt lived, and was all forrest lined like the park, just a little duller. So we get there and hop out, and as the little buggy pulls away we realize we left our car in New York, and would yet again have to take the trains and bus to NY for a weekend.

How quickly my dreams go from fantasy to nightmare!!

You had any odd dreams lately?

Don't You Just Love It?

Or maybe you don't, but I definitely love it when I see pictures of celebrities being taken off guard. The one above for instnce of Barbara Streisand. Looks like she either just woke up, or got beat in the face by a 2x4. There are many other pictures out there and I think I might post my favorites in a blog of their own sometime, but I honestly think that is the one thing that keeps me sane. Especially since I wasn't even looking for them and they showed up in my search engine. So guess what I searched for before I found her picture?

Happy New Year (About 1 week too late!)

So I haven't made any resolutions this year. At least nothing set in stone. I think my main goal is to get out of Nick's aunts house by June without losing a ton more money. As it is we pay more here than we would at an apartment, and get absolutely no perks. In fact, we were gone this weekend, and his aunt took it upon herself to move our stuff around in the basement to get to some of her stuff that she was selling, and not put our stuff back. Which would normally net be a problem except we came home and I looked to put my stuff down and I couldn't because she had stuff allo over the place. So needless to say I spent a good hour and a half cleaning up after her, and doing my laundry.

Other than the small pitfalls of a lazy aunt-in-law things have been fine. I have sort of come to terms with the fact that no matter what, I can't change Nick's family. They are nothing like mine, and although I would really love them to be more like them, I can't expect them to change just because I am around. So I think this will be a resolution for me. I need to try to accept his family for who they are, and deal with the fact that they may not be as considerate and helpful as I would like them to be.

Also I am going to attack my weight issue. The wedding is not far off, and I want to ease my way into a good size, rather than crash into it. So I am trying to eat a little healthier. I make less food for the family, and I am trying to keep fatty foods out of my cooking completely. Watch out Olive oil, here I come!!

I also really want to get my license in February. I have an appointment for the driver's test, but I also need to work on going backwards. It really throws me for a loop and I can't stand doing it. I get so frustrated. People say that practice makes perfect, but I get so disoriented that I might as well drive backwards for the entire month of January in order to learn.

I also want to cut back spending. I don't really spend a lot as it is, but I think I can spend less. This month the only thing I plan on spending is a gift for my sister. I have a few things for her, but I am trying not to go crazy. Hopefully things work out for me this year. Wishing you the best this year as well!
